A third of ill staff refuse sick days
Whilst sickness absence management is a key issue for many businesses, a report posted today on the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) website finds that more than a third of employees insist on going to work when they are suffering from the effects of colds and flu.
The study was carried out by natural cold remedy Kaloba, involving 10,000 adults across the UK. It found that 37 per cent of workers consider it unacceptable to stay at home when they suspect or know they have flu or a cold – despite the fact that medical experts continuously warn people with bugs not to spread them in their workplace.
